I had to get the source and compile with updated versions in pom.xml:
netbeans.release.version → RELEASE300
maven-compiler-plugin > configuration > release → 21
nbm-maven-plugin version → 14.3

I also had to add <proc>full</proc> in maven-compiler-plugin configuration.
