- Python Environments extension: 1.36.0
- Conda: 25.7.0 (Miniconda)
Problem
Only the base Conda environment appears in the notebook kernel selector. All other Conda environments are missing.
Conda itself works correctly:
conda env list lists all environments.conda activate <env> works.- The Python executables inside the environments are valid.
Reproduction
- Install the Python extension and the Python Environments extension.
- Open VS Code.
- Open a Jupyter notebook.
- Click the kernel selector.
Expected:
- All Conda environments are available.
Actual:
- Only the
base environment is shown.
Workaround
Disabling the Python Environments extension (ms-python.vscode-python-envs) immediately restores all Conda environments in the kernel selector.
code --disable-extension ms-python.vscode-python-envs
Relevant error
The VS Code log repeatedly reports:
Error: invalid version no-python
The stack trace originates from the Python extension while processing environments.
