How to install Nilesoft Shell both for 32 bits and 64 bits applications on Windows 64 bits :
Tested with Windows 11 23H2 64 bits, Nilesoft Shell 1.9.18.0 (the 32bits and 64bits installer are needed)
/!\
It should be noticed that I had beforehand deleted the following registry values
to revert the explorer context menu style from Win 11 to Win 10 (disabling the 'Show More' hiding system)
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32>(Default)
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WOW6432Node\CLSID{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InProcServer32>(Default)
Install 32bits setup-x86.msi in C:\Program Files (x86)\Nilesoft Shell
Start C:\Program Files (x86)\Nilesoft Shell\shell.exe (32bits) and register extension, close Nilesoft Shell window
Copy and Rename C:\Program Files (x86)\Nilesoft Shell\shell.dll & shell.exe to your Desktop with names shell_x86.dll & shell_x86.exe
Uninstall Nilesoft Shell (32bits)
Install 64bits Nilesoft-Shell_setup-x64.msi in C:\Program Files (x86)\Nilesoft Shell (/!\ important to be in Program Files (x86))
Better now to take control of the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Nilesoft Shell :
right-click this folder, properties, security tab, advanced, 'Allow to change permissions' button
'Add' button, Select a principal, [type your admin username] (or Advanced>Find Now, to find it)
Select 'Full Control' for this folder, subfolders and files, ok, ok, ok...
Copy shell_x86.dll & shell_x86.exe (32bits) with these names to C:\Program Files (x86)\Nilesoft Shell
Start C:\Program Files (x86)\Nilesoft Shell\shell.exe (which is 64bits now) and register extension
Copy in a .reg file the following text, right-click the file and merge :
If it is not enough to have shell_x86.dll correctly loaded by 32bits apps :
It might be needed to add by hand a registry value via Regedit.exe :
It will be required to take control of the key (same technique as for a folder: right-click this key etc...) :
HKCR\WOW6432Node\CLSID{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}
create the subkey TreatAs (if absent) to have :
HKCR\WOW6432Node\CLSID{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\TreatAs
in TreatAs set (Default) value to : {BAE3934B-8A6A-4BFB-81BD-3FC599A1BAF1}
