Senior / Lead Engineer & Tech Lead — Manchester, UK
I've spent 10+ years building products that had to work at scale — real users, real transactions, no shortcuts. My background is full-stack JavaScript, but the work stopped being just code a long time ago. These days I own the whole line: requirements, system design, delivery, and getting clients onto the thing once it ships.
Inherited a fragmented product suite where clients had to register and manage workers, contractors and equipment as three separate systems. Architected and led the ground-up redesign into a modular microservices platform under a single umbrella, with module-based access. Migrated 11,000+ users and 150,000+ documents with zero data loss. The platform has kept growing since launch and now serves 25,000+ users.
Built from scratch as a monolithic MVP, grown into a full production system, then migrated to microservices to keep up with demand. Order management, fleet management, real-time tracking, billing. Peaked at 4,000+ deliveries per day. Led a team of 6 across the full lifecycle.
Selected to travel to Lazada's head office in Singapore on the cross-border data migration team, working directly with Lazada engineers to consolidate two of Asia's largest e-commerce platforms.
Most of my recent work has been proprietary, so the code isn't here. The systems above are what I've actually built.
Requirements → system design → delivery → onboarding. I'm usually the bridge between stakeholders and engineering: finding the real requirement, questioning what's being built before it gets built, and staying in the room until the problem is solved.
The architectural pattern I keep coming back to is decomposition — taking something tangled and fragmented and finding the module boundaries that let each piece be understood, owned and deployed on its own. That's what the NeXafe redesign was, and what the Hey Karry monolith migration was.
I've led and mentored cross-functional teams through Agile sprints and release cycles, and I've done the unglamorous half too: DevOps, monitoring, and being the one who gets paged.
Alongside the tooling: microservices architecture, system design, REST API design, data migration, and Agile delivery.
Just finished an MSc in Management with International Business at the University of Huddersfield (Merit) — taken on top of an MSc in Software Engineering, because the job had drifted toward stakeholders and strategy and I wanted to be properly equipped for that half of it.
