1491-1494: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | 💤 Low valueClick handler selects the preview type from mutable CSS state.
The handler checks
chip.classList.contains('attachment--image'). The thumbnailerrorhandler removes that class. If the image fails and the attachment has text, the chip stays a button and opens the text preview. This works as intended. The decision depends on DOM class state. Use an explicit check instead. For example, track a local

Summary
Image attachments used to show up as just a filename. They now get a small thumbnail next to the name in the composer, the AI Assistant's attachment tray, and on sent emails in the thread. Clicking an image chip on a sent email opens the full image in a modal.
Changes
Filethe learner picked, so the thumbnail shows up right away, even mid-upload. Sent emails use theref.urlthat came back from the upload.text, it stays clickable and opens the text preview instead.Filein aWeakMapand revoked only when the learner removes the attachment. Revoking them inclearAttachments()would break the delete-draft rollback, which restores the same attachment items after a failed save.taghas a fixed height, so a new.attachment--imagevariant lets the chip grow to fit a 40px thumbnail. Non-image chips look the same as before.image/*MIME type, or a.png,.jpg,.jpeg,.gifor.webpextension.Not covered: seeded scenario attachments (
{ name, text? }) have no image data, and assistant chat history deliberately drops the expiring file URLs. Both still show the filename only.Testing
npm testincludes two new tests: the composer thumbnail is created once and revoked on remove, and a sent image's thumbnail falls back to the plain name on a load error.npm run dev, attach a PNG plus a PDF in the composer and confirm only the PNG gets a thumbnail. Send it, open the sent email, and click the image chip to see the full image. Then attach an image in the AI Assistant tray and confirm it gets a thumbnail too.
