Welcome to the Gooby RCON wiki. This page is the home for getting started, learning the app layout, and finding the most common tasks for connecting to and managing a Minecraft or Source-based game server via RCON.
Gooby RCON is a lightweight desktop client for connecting to a game server over the Source-style RCON protocol. It gives you a clean console-style interface for sending commands, reading server output, and managing a server without opening the full Minecraft server jar GUI.
- Connect to a server by host and port
- Authenticate with an RCON password
- Send server commands from the built-in console input
- View command responses in the console log
- Save server connection settings locally
- Maintain a session name for future organization and future multi-session workflows
Before connecting, make sure your server is configured to accept RCON connections.
Typical requirements include:
- RCON enabled in the server configuration
- a valid RCON port exposed and reachable
- a matching RCON password
- firewall rules that allow inbound access if the server is remote
Launch Gooby RCON and open the Options dialog.
Set:
- Session Name
- Host / IP
- Port
- Password
Then save the settings and click Connect.
Once connected, type a command into the input line at the bottom of the app and press Enter.
Examples:
- list
- help
- time set day
- gamerule doDaylightCycle true
- stop
The console will display the outgoing command and the server response.
The top menu includes:
- Options
- Options…
- Clear Console
- Exit
- Help
- Report Issue
- Go To Wiki
The main console panel displays:
- server output
- command echoes
- status messages
- command responses
- connection errors
The status bar shows:
- current connection state
- active host and port
- connect/disconnect control
- Launch the app
- Open Options
- Enter Session Name, host, port, and password
- Save settings
- Click Connect
- Send commands from the command bar
- Disconnect when finished
Check the following:
- host and port are correct
- server is running
- RCON is enabled on the target server
- password matches exactly
- firewall or NAT rules allow the connection
This normally means one of the following:
- wrong RCON password
- server did not enable RCON
- a different server is listening on the configured port
Try these steps:
- confirm the server is online
- confirm the RCON port is correct
- check the server logs for RCON-related errors
- retry after restarting the server if configuration recently changed
- Do not share your RCON password publicly
- Keep the app on a trusted machine
- Only expose RCON to trusted networks
- Avoid saving credentials in insecure locations or sharing screenshots with secrets
The project is intended to grow toward:
- multiple session tabs
- session management
- saved connection profiles
- richer command history and templates
- better server status indicators

If you are running into a problem, please open a report in the issue tracker with:
- server type
- host and port used
- RCON authentication status
- console error text
- steps to reproduce
This helps the project maintainers diagnose issues faster.
