Concurrent requests could repeatedly select the same idle HTTP/1.1 connection and retry assignment. Reserve connections until request release, keep HTTP/2 sharing, and skip expiry/idle eviction for reserved connections. Ordered candidate removal and incremental reservation counts avoid repeated scans and handoffs.
Release ownership on requeue, cancellation, exceptions, and response closure; make duplicate closes safe. The source distribution includes its sync generator and uses metadata compatible with supported build checks.
Validation: 286 tests pass, type checking passes, and statement coverage is 100%. The full suite also passes from the extracted source distribution. Python 3.8–3.12 CI is green at
8084971fe322e979988c27b12d04620881491788. Fresh GPT-6 Astra and Cursor Claude Fable 5.1 reviews both approve that commit. The warm HTTP/1.1 fixture verifies assignment behavior; end-to-end driver performance remains to be measured.
