Simple Skin Swapper is a client-side Fabric mod for Minecraft 1.21.11 and 26.x that lets you switch between your local skin files on the fly, without restarting the game or navigating through external websites. Open a dynamic skin wheel with a keybind, hover over the skin you want, click, and you're done.
Skin wheel
Hold your keybind (default key is G) to open the overlay, hover over the skin you want, and click to apply it. You can scroll to explore the available wheels. Releasing the keybind without clicking simply closes the wheel and no skin will be changed.
Skin library screen
Allows you to add and organize your existing skins. You can open it from the main or pause menu. You can access it quickly by setting up the dedicated keybind as well.
You can:
- Drag and drop skins to organize them in a category
- Drag and drop skins to add them to another category
- Create your own categories and configure them to change the number of wheels they can have, their color, and name
- Quickly add a skin in the mod from a Minecraft account or from an existing file on your computer
Multiplayer and servers
Skin switching also works in multiplayer and has all the other players see your skin change in real time! Three ways to make it work:
- Server side mod: You can add this mod to your Fabric server
- SkinShuffleBridge plugin: SimpleSkinSwapper is compatible with the SkinShuffleBridge plugin allowing it to work with paper servers
- Server side skin update command: If your server has a command to update your skin, you can configure it too
In any case, other players DON'T need to have the mod to see your skin change.
This project uses generative AI at several levels (code, docs). What that means, and what it doesn't, is explained in AI_DISCLOSURE.md. Read it to decide whether this mod is for you.
- cobrasrock for creating SkinSwapper under an open license that allowed me to reuse parts of its logic
- imb11 for creating SkinShuffle, an outstanding mod that remains the most fully-featured in its category, and the one I would be using if not for the specific features I was looking for
