telemetry: sync Semi streaming fields to fleet-telemetry PR 572 final head - #73
Brings proto/telemetry/vehicle_data.proto and the generated Python and TypeScript to the final content of teslamotors/fleet-telemetry#572 ("Add Semi streaming fields"). The PR is approved but not merged. Its approved head is 93d3afe7948eaf674a21794f5a63de9b30678bb6.
Releases 3.0.2 to 4.0.0 published fields 272-278 from the first version of that PR. Upstream later changed them. This PR publishes only the final upstream content, as a patch release.
"fields 272-277 are first available in firmware versions 2026.32.300 and 2026.38.6"
No change: PowerTransferStatus (273), AutomaticEmergencyBrakingState (274, field stays in Field), RollingResistanceCoefficient (275), PowerTransferStatusValue and Value.power_transfer_status_value (57), CarTypeSemiTruckV2 (7) and CarTypeCybercab (8). Upstream does not reserve tag 56 or 278; this PR mirrors that.
The final PR head has no fields 279 or 280. An intermediate head (310a62b) added DriverAssistanceState (279) and FsdSoftwareVersion (280); upstream deleted them before approval, so they are not here.
Upstream tracking
upstream.json pins fleet-telemetry to the PR head 93d3afe and the new vehicle_data.proto sha256 (9283b8e0…). The other four tracked telemetry files are byte-identical at that commit. The previous pin e980c7e was the first version of the same PR, so this follows the same convention.
scripts/upstream_coverage.py --mode pinned passes with no findings.
When upstream merges with identical bytes, reconciliation is a no-op.
buf breaking
The renames, removals and renumbers trip five buf breaking rules on vehicle_data.proto: ENUM_VALUE_NO_DELETE_UNLESS_NAME_RESERVED, ENUM_VALUE_NO_DELETE_UNLESS_NUMBER_RESERVED, ENUM_VALUE_SAME_NAME, FIELD_NO_DELETE_UNLESS_NAME_RESERVED and FIELD_NO_DELETE_UNLESS_NUMBER_RESERVED. buf.yaml gets a temporary ignore_only block for these rules on that one file, the same way #68 did for common_api.proto. Delete the block in the first PR after this release, as #70 did.
Release
Patch changeset (.changeset/sync-fleet-telemetry-pr-572-final.md). This is a patch by maintainer decision, although it renames and renumbers published symbols. Consumers that used AccRail, CruiseState, VehicleMassKg or CruiseStateValue, or matched tags 276/277 by number, must update.
Checks run locally
pnpm generate: generated output committed.
buf lint and buf breaking --against origin/main: pass, with the ignore block.
… head (93d3afe)
- Field 272 AccRail is renamed AccessoryRail.
- Field 276 CruiseState, CruiseStateValue and Value.cruise_state_value (56) are deleted.
- LifetimeDcChargeEnergyKwh moves from 277 to 276.
- VehicleMassKg (278) becomes SemiVehicleMassKg at 277.
- AutomaticEmergencyBrakingStateValue and Value.automatic_emergency_braking_state_value (60) are added.
- upstream.json pins fleet-telemetry to the PR head 93d3afe.
- buf.yaml ignores the flagged breaking rules on vehicle_data.proto until this release is published.
The telemetry schema renames and reassigns Semi field entries, removes cruise-state data, and adds automatic-emergency-braking state data. The catalog and Python and TypeScript representations reflect these updates. The upstream pin and patch-release metadata are also updated.

Summary
Source schema and synchronization metadata proto/telemetry/vehicle_data.proto, upstream.json, buf.yaml, .changeset/sync-fleet-telemetry-pr-572-final.md
The protobuf schema updates field names and numbers, adds AutomaticEmergencyBrakingStateValue, and replaces the cruise-state Value member with the automatic-emergency-braking member. The upstream pin, temporary Buf exceptions, and changeset record the synchronization and patch release.
Catalog and language bindings catalog/catalog.json, packages/python/tesla_protocol/telemetry/vehicle_data_pb2.py, packages/python/tesla_protocol/telemetry/vehicle_data_pb2.pyi, packages/typescript/src/telemetry/vehicle_data.ts
The catalog and Python and TypeScript representations reflect the schema updates. TypeScript JSON conversion and protobuf encoding and decoding use the new Value member at field number 60.
This sync reuses telemetry field numbers 276 and 277 with new meanings, so older stored or in-flight telemetry can be read as the wrong field. It also ships a breaking rename and removal of public symbols as a patch release, so consumers will receive it automatically. Correct the release bump and settle the compatibility handling with upstream before merging.

coordinate distinct numbers upstream, or add version-aware decoding that
