Summary

Optimize complex Inkpad artwork rendering, vector scene MCP editing and local notebook persistence while maintaining scene identity/revisions, Undo/Redo and atomic backup recovery.

  • Raster/path/clip/shadow reuse; batched and in-place vector scene editing, gradients and placement.
  • Buffered streaming JSON saves, validated image metadata cache and reused RGBA buffer.
  • Avoid redundant Slint model updates and whole-notebook persistence clones.
  • Add reproducible benchmarking, MCP/geometry regressions and Windows CI.

Validation

  • Local Windows: 107 desktop and 104 MCP Rust tests passed.
  • Atomic scene, advanced vector, positioning and geometry Python smoke tests passed.
  • Both Win64 release binaries compiled; GitHub Windows CI independently rebuilds and tests PR HEAD.

Limitations

  • No proven uniform end-to-end GUI speedup: automated pointer focus issues and order-dependent save timings.
  • About 22 MiB sustained GUI RSS high-water growth has not been conclusively attributed.
  • See docs/INKPAD_PERFORMANCE_2026-10-29.md for methods and measurement scope.
