Currently all links on thread pages (for eg) link to pages on mastodon.world, but those pages are just links to the original page, prefixed with the text "You are leaving mastodon.world. If you trust this link, click it to continue". Such pages aren't very useful to users since they need a second click to actually view the content.
So it would be better to link directly to the original URLs instead if that is feasible.
