This pull request introduces a new draft policy and supporting guidance for justifying Privileged Identity Management (PIM) activations by engineers, and integrates these documents into the cloud development and overall engineering policy indexes. The main focus is to clarify expectations for documenting the reason for PIM role activations, ensuring traceability, and protecting sensitive information.
New PIM justification policy and guidance:
PrivilegedIdentityManagementJustificationPolicy.md, outlining requirements for engineers to provide clear, traceable, and non-sensitive reasons when activating PIM roles, including the need for references to authorised work and special requirements for live production systems.PrivilegedIdentityManagementJustificationGuidance.md, providing practical advice and examples for composing appropriate PIM activation reasons, including a self-check and illustrative scenarios.Documentation and index updates:
software-engineering-policies/CloudDevelopment/README.mdto include links to the new PIM policy and guidance documents.software-engineering-policies/README.mdto reference the new PIM activation justification policy and guidance in the main engineering policies table.
