LimitWise

LimitWise schedules Codex work while respecting rolling five-hour and weekly usage limits.

Compatibility warning: LimitWise has only been tested on Linux x86-64. macOS, including Apple Silicon, and other architectures are untested and require confirmation during installation.

Prebuilt Linux releases target GLIBC 2.31 for compatibility with Ubuntu 20.04 and newer releases.

Install

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/aarsht7/limitwise/main/install.sh | sh

The installer verifies the release checksum, installs the marketplace and plugin, then asks separately before installing the background service. Open a new Codex conversation when it finishes.

If installation succeeds but your shell reports limitwise: command not found, the binary is installed but its data directory is not on PATH. Follow the Linux, macOS, and other-platform command setup.

Terse output is built into $schedule-codex-tasks; there is no separate skill to install or invoke. When the LimitWise skill is active, replies are terse by default to reduce output tokens. Say normal mode for fuller prose, terse mode to return to the default, or ultra terse for the shortest safe replies. Exact commands, paths, timestamps, IDs, error text, and quota warnings are preserved.

After install, quick checks:

codex plugin list
codex plugin marketplace list

Technical users can install the GitHub marketplace directly:

codex plugin marketplace add aarsht7/limitwise
codex plugin add limitwise@limitwise

Direct marketplace installation does not install a prebuilt binary or background service. Use the installer above for the complete setup.

Update

If you installed LimitWise with the one-line installer, rerun it:

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/aarsht7/limitwise/main/install.sh | sh

This downloads the latest verified release, replaces the binary, and refreshes the plugin marketplace. Choose y when prompted about the background service to restart it with the new binary. Existing schedules and local data are preserved. Open a new Codex conversation afterward.

If you installed only the marketplace plugin, run:

codex plugin marketplace upgrade limitwise
codex plugin add limitwise@limitwise

For complete uninstall and cleanup instructions by install method (installer, marketplace-only, source build, emergency manual cleanup), see plugins/limitwise/docs/troubleshooting.md.

Plugin source and documentation live in plugins/limitwise.
