I'm a financial analyst who's curious about pretty much everything. Computers run money, markets and most of how the world works, and AI means one person can now build what used to take a team.
At work I saw how much of finance fits that, so I'm learning how to use and build with Python and SQL. These are the side projects I have built along the way.
- Demoed an AI file-search tool at a company showcase for 200+ people. It finds exactly what we said in past reports and when, so the team can reuse wording we've already published.
- Building a template for a second brain.
- Building out my home lab.
Tools I use: Python, SQL, Excel/VBA, Tableau, Power BI, Bloomberg, Intex and Yieldbook.
| MBS Cash Flow Model Projects agency MBS cash flows with PSA and rate-linked prepayments, then measures WAL, effective duration, OAS and negative convexity. |
| Bond Rate Shock Analyzer Measures portfolio P&L under parallel and key-rate shocks, compares duration and convexity estimates, and computes DV01 off a Treasury curve. |
|
| Mortgage Delinquency Drivers Uses OLS regressions with Newey-West standard errors to test what drives the mortgage delinquency rate. |
|
| Mortgage Market Dashboard Tracks mortgage rates against Treasuries, the mortgage-Treasury spread and the yield curve, using FRED data. |
|
| Covered Call Screener Ranks covered-call candidates from an option chain and flags the risks (synthetic data). |
|
| Budget Variance Analyzer Compares budget to actual results, flags material variances and builds an operating income bridge (synthetic data). |
