Foreground offckb node still drops contract output when CKB sends params.result as a JSON-encoded string. Decode that payload before validating the log entry, retain object payload support, and ignore malformed notifications so later records continue streaming.
--json config set can also emit plain-text settings diagnostics during module imports, before runCli() enables JSON mode. Initialize the global logger from the CLI flag so those early diagnostics use NDJSON alongside the final structured failure. Settings failures still exit with code 1, leave stdout empty, and preserve the original file.
Follows up the retest reports in #513 and #518. Includes a patch changeset.
Validation:
New regressions reproduced both failures before the source fixes; all pass after.
Loopback TCP tests cover object/string payloads, multiline messages, split writes, and malformed notifications followed by valid records.
Bundled CLI subprocess tests cover corrupted JSON and injected EACCES with --json before/after the command, plus plain-text mode and original-file preservation.
Typecheck, bundled build, formatting, changeset status and diff checks passed. Lint passed with one existing warning in src/node/install.ts.
Validation ran locally on macOS with Node 24.8.0. No real CKB contract transaction was executed during this follow-up; TCP traffic uses fixtures and unreadable-settings coverage injects EACCES for portability.

Restored foreground display of TCP log notifications encoded as JSON strings.
Startup settings errors now use NDJSON output when --json is enabled, regardless of whether the option appears before or after the command.
The CLI logger now enables JSON mode when --json appears in the arguments. TCP log subscription parsing now accepts JSON-encoded notification results as well as structured objects. Tests cover startup diagnostics and notification parsing.
The module-level logger enables JSON mode when --json appears in the arguments. Startup tests cover invalid or unreadable settings with JSON and plain-text output. The changeset describes both fixes.
parseSubscriptionMessage accepts JSON-encoded results and structured objects. Tests cover defaults, invalid results, and notifications split across writes. The retry and reconnect test calls are reformatted without changing their arguments.
ckb-devrel/offckb#542: Treats arguments after a plugin command as opaque and assigns --json to the plugin. This PR also changes how the logger handles --json in those arguments.

Explanation
Docstring coverage is 0.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 1 functions across 4 files. (1 skipped: 1 unsupported.)
Resolution
Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.
