Semester 3
Prototyping with Prof. Michael Schuster
Christina Rost and Xian Wu, 2018
Fork of an open-source project originally developed at MIT Hackerspace. I took over the existing codebase during my second semester and substantially modified and debugged the software to get the complete system operational. This included working with the existing database architecture, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, NFC reader and electronic locks.
A university prototyping project for controlling electronic lockers using NFC/RFID credentials.
I adapted and extended an existing implementation to make the project runnable in our target setup. My work focused on understanding, integrating and troubleshooting the existing components.
- Raspberry Pi: server-side logic
- Arduino: hardware control
- NFC/RFID reader: credential input
- Electronic locks: physical access control
- Raspberry PI with SD Card (minimum 8GB)
- Arduino Uno
- Relay Modules - depending on how many lockers you want to control
- electromagnetic locks -also depending on how many lockers you want to control
- Adafruit PN532 NFC Shield
- Wires
- Diodes
- screen, keyboard and mouse to control the Raspberry PI (if needed)
- Breadboard or DIY soldering PCB to build the circuits
Based on core-doorctl.
