feat(CountingSimulation): unconditional SharpTIME ⊆ FTIME in time 2^O(T/√log T) (#1833) - #2041
Conversation
…(T/√log T) Instantiate the count-first containments of #2003 with `fastContractionAlgorithm`, as FastSimulation already does for NTIME, BPTIME and PPTIME: * `SharpTIME_subset_iUnion_FTIME_two_pow_div_sqrt_log_two` * `exists_computableInTimeAndSpace_two_pow_div_sqrt_log_two_of_mem_SharpTIME` Check both at the clock `(n + 1) ^ 2 + 1`, and drop the completed ROADMAP item for #1833. I read the complete three-file diff, the actual SharpTIME/FTIME definitions, both conditional theorem statements and the concrete contraction certificate. The two new results instantiate those statements exactly, removing only the contraction-algorithm premise. Counts retain terminal-branch multiplicity with no extra post-halting branches; output is the exact natural count in binary. T is constructible and at least max n 2; each counting function receives one machine and fixed constants C,d before the input, with the advertised independent time/workspace bounds. The concrete-clock tests check both forms. Existing counting-reduction and fast-contraction reviews are reused. The ROADMAP deletion matches this completed endpoint; no curated abstract is affected. No findings.
Whitespace checks pass and the author reports all six local gates on this head. At my single exact-head CI inspection, title/guide passed and Lean checks were running (Lean run). No reviewer Lean build. Agent review, not human approval.
Change
This closes the last conditional endpoint of #1833. #2003 proved exact counting,
SharpTIME[T] ⊆ ⋃ C, FTIME[2 ^ (C T / √⌊log₂ T⌋)]with binary output, only under a contraction-algorithm hypothesis. #1995 later suppliedfastContractionAlgorithm, butFastSimulation.leanplugged it into the NTIME, BPTIME and PPTIME statements only. This PR adds the two missing one-line instances beside them:SharpTIME_subset_iUnion_FTIME_two_pow_div_sqrt_log_two, the class containment.exists_computableInTimeAndSpace_two_pow_div_sqrt_log_two_of_mem_SharpTIME, which gives one machine within both time2 ^ (C T n / √⌊log₂ (T n)⌋)and workspaceT n ^ d.Each takes
hT : TimeConstructible TandhTn : ∀ n, max n 2 ≤ T n, and the statements match the_of_contractionAlgorithmforms inBlockNetworks.leanexactly. The PR also updates the module docstring and drops the completed ROADMAP "Counting and modular classes" item for #1833.This is mathematical progress: an unconditional theorem. There are no new definitions.
Validation
ComplexityTests/FastSimulation.leanchecks both theorems at the clock(n + 1) ^ 2 + 1.scripts/check.sh --quickfell back to all six gates because of the ROADMAP change. All six pass locally on 3740f46.AI assistance
