includeCoAuthoredBy: false is ignored in ACP mode (copilot --acp) #5133

Open

Description

@illgitthat

Describe the bug

Copilot CLI ignores "includeCoAuthoredBy": false in ACP mode (copilot --acp), so commits still get a Co-authored-by: Copilot trailer. The same prompt in copilot -p respects the setting.

Affected version

GitHub Copilot CLI 1.0.97-2 (Linux, WSL2)

Steps to reproduce the behavior

  1. Set { "includeCoAuthoredBy": false } in ~/.copilot/settings.json.
  2. In an empty git repo with a.txt, send: Commit a.txt with git using the commit message "add a". Do nothing else.
  3. Do this once with copilot -p ... --allow-all-tools and once over copilot --acp --stdio (any ACP client, for example T3 Code).
  4. Run git log -1 --format=%B.
Mode Commit message
-p add a ✅
--acp add a + Co-authored-by: Copilot <223556219+Copilot@users.noreply.github.com> ❌

Expected behavior

ACP mode respects includeCoAuthoredBy: false, like -p mode.

Additional context

Related: #4576 (same setting ignored by subagents), #4700 (another settings.json setting not honored in ACP mode).
