💡 What:

Optimized splitPath in internal/services/cloudbuild/resources.go to pre-allocate the slice using parts := make([]string, 0, strings.Count(s, "/")+1).

🎯 Why:

The previous implementation declared var parts []string and then appended items in a loop. Since the initial capacity was zero, append had to repeatedly allocate a new underlying array and copy elements as the slice grew. By using strings.Count(s, "/") + 1 to pre-calculate the required capacity, we only need to allocate memory once, eliminating unnecessary reallocation overhead.

📊 Measured Improvement:

Benchmark results for splitting projects/my-project/locations/us-central1/builds/some-build-id:

Baseline (splitPathOrig):

  • Time: ~423 ns/op
  • Memory: 240 B/op
  • Allocations: 4 allocs/op

Improvement (splitPathPrealloc):

  • Time: ~187 ns/op (~55% reduction)
  • Memory: 96 B/op (~60% reduction)
  • Allocations: 1 allocs/op (75% reduction)

Pre-allocates the `parts` slice in `splitPath` using `strings.Count(s, "/") + 1` to establish the exact capacity needed. This avoids dynamic memory allocations when appending to the slice within the loop, significantly improving performance and reducing memory allocations.

Configures golangci-lint-action to use `install-mode: goinstall` to build from source using the latest Go version (1.25.5) defined in `go.mod`. This prevents failures caused by the action trying to use a pre-compiled `golangci-lint` binary that was built for an older version of Go.
Removes the root-level `version` field from `.golangci.yml` as it is not supported by newer versions of golangci-lint and causes JSON schema validation errors during the CI workflow.
