[SF#1431] + and - zooming not creating canvas operators #801
Original Reporter: tyronekeynes Created: 2022-06-28 22:19:26.812000 Last Modified: 2026-09-22 00:07:59.766000 Status: open
Description
Adjusting zoom instead of issuing operators. The "-" beside the "=" opens the text prompt and then clicking enter works fine, but the other "-" and "+" zoom in and out.

By 'other "-" and "+"'' I think you mean the numeric keypad keys. Num +/- is often used for zoom in/out, and indeed this is what the TCL/Tk version does, so this is not a Javascript issue per se.
I would have though that pressing num lock, you should get the +/- meaning on these keys, just like you get the numerical meanings of the keys instead of the arrow, page up/down meaning of the keys. But even in the TCL/Tk case, +/- is zoom in/out, regardless of num lock setting.
We can change this to what we want, of course, but I suggest this is not for Cournot, which aims at feature complete parity with the TCL/Tk Graeber version.

No. I just double checked on version 2.35.1. The numlock only locks out the numbers, pressing the + and - creates operators and the numlock does not effect this either way. In the JS version it is zoom only and the numlock does not effect this. To me this is not a huge issue, and as I was just testing this I realized I could press "shift" "=" to get my plus operator. So in short I am now think I like the third zoom option. I just use my "mouse roller type" thing to zoom anyways.
I think you could close this ticket after all. I have seemed to worked through my own operational issues hahaha
