Re-opens #53 against main. #53 was stacked on effect-v4-stable and merged into that branch moments after #52 merged into main, so its commit never reached main. main still has compatibility date 2026-08-31, while the deployed Workers run 2026-10-01 from this branch.

This is the same single commit (25b1692):

  • Both Workers move to compatibility date 2026-10-01. Pending calls to another Durable Object, containers, waitUntil and timers now keep a Durable Object running with no client connected. See Cloudflare's post. The behaviour is the default from that date; no flag needed. Checked on the deployed Workers through Cloudflare's API.
  • Keepalive stays, because its alarm still wakes a session a deploy or crash cut off. Its comments are corrected.

See #53 for the full description and the live test.

…nding I/O

Move both Workers to compatibility date 2026-10-01. From that date, a
pending call to another Durable Object, a container, `waitUntil` or a
timer keeps a Durable Object in memory with no client connected, for up
to 15 minutes per call. A turn waiting on a container command through the
Computer is now covered without its HTTP client.

Keepalive stays: pending I/O does not survive a deploy or crash, and its
alarm is what wakes a cut-off session so it continues the turn. Its
comments now say so, and drop the claim that outbound fetches did not
count as activity.
