Fractional CTO · Technology partner · Architecture, engineering leadership & delivery
I bring nearly 30 years in technology, including 12 years as CTO in a manufacturing business, alongside experience in global technology companies, industrial software, banking and independent consulting.
I can join as a fractional CTO or technology partner, or take responsibility for a defined project from architecture through delivery. The starting point is your business objective, the decisions that need to be made and the responsibility you want me to take on.
Have a product to build, a platform to change or an important technical decision to make? Let's discuss it at CloudIndustry.

I work with founders and business leaders who need someone to take responsibility for the technology behind their business. I turn business objectives into technical decisions, lead the engineering work and build the solution with the team.
My experience combines professional services for Google, Roche, Hilti and the Bank for International Settlements with independent consulting and product partnerships through CloudIndustry. Across both, my work connects the business goal, the architecture, the people and the implementation.
As a Software Engineer and Cloud Technical Account Manager on an Adecco assignment, I worked with internal service owners and engineering teams to move services from Google's retiring Conga platform to Pod. The work required understanding each service, adapting code and configuration, moving traffic and guiding teams through the transition. It combined hands-on engineering with responsibility for communication and execution across stakeholders.
I led technical development and delivery of a machine learning platform for Roche's data scientists. As Development Lead, I shaped the architecture, coordinated developers and contributed code, taking the work through to production deployment. The platform brought together AWS, Kubernetes and Kubeflow so data scientists could develop and serve models. This engagement, through CTC, combined architecture, team leadership and implementation.
At Hilti, I built the cloud infrastructure and release automation for a software product and helped establish the DevOps team. My responsibilities extended across technical implementation, coordination of distributed engineering work and communication with management about priorities and business risks. The work connected the product's delivery needs with the people, processes and platform required to support them.
At BIS, through Source Technology, I designed and implemented release automation for the FIS Front Arena trading platform across Windows and Kubernetes environments. The scope included application lifecycle management, infrastructure automation, logging and monitoring. It required translating the operational demands of a banking institution into a repeatable engineering process; my appraisal rated application-management automation, monitoring and delivery against deadlines as excellent.
These engagements put me directly alongside the person responsible for a product or business initiative, with a mandate to resolve technical questions and carry the work into implementation.
Cloud and data infrastructure, through Paranor. Architecture, automation and monitoring of cloud infrastructure and big-data clusters on AWS, supporting Paranor's work for UPU. The engagement covered infrastructure improvement and operational reliability. Paranor's management provided a written recommendation for my work and responsiveness.
Addressing Solutions: search architecture and modernisation. Working directly with the product lead and team, I evaluated the technical direction for cloud-based address search and implemented data-loading automation, deployment workflows and performance-testing tools. The work informed the team's choice of Elasticsearch and gave them code they could operate and develop further. This was a consulting mandate spanning a technology decision, a working implementation and transfer to the client team.
As Director of Technology, I work directly with the founder on the architecture and development of a software platform for the architecture and construction industry. My role combines technical direction, product engineering, coordination of development and preparation for customer demonstrations. I translate the founder's product vision into engineering decisions and stay involved in the code and delivery.
I work with the founders on the development of their dance platform, connecting product requirements with implementation, releases and the systems needed to operate it. This is the kind of partnership I enjoy: close to the people shaping the product, with direct involvement in making it work.
Through BitMan, I work with small and medium businesses on technology decisions and practical delivery: software and websites, integrations, automation, infrastructure and security. The business owner has one person to discuss the need with and work through the implementation.
