What is wrong or missing?
It would nice if list of userland components used by Azure Linux is listed in the README.
Like does it use GNU coreutils or uutils-coreutils?
As mimalloc is from Microsoft, is glibc patched to use mimalloc instead? Other components like sudo-rs, ntpd-rs, https://hickory-dns.org/ if used.

This seems like a good place for a focused docs example: show the smallest setup that demonstrates “List userland components used by Azure Linux”, then state the expected output or UI state. That would make the 4.0 case testable for users instead of leaving it as a general note.

Hi! I’d like to work on this. I’m planning a short README section that:

• lists the core userland components selected by the standard VM image;
• clarifies that container, WSL, and distroless images use different package sets; and
• links to the KIWI image definitions as the source of truth for exact package lists.

This should answer the implementation questions without duplicating a full package manifest that would quickly become stale. Would this scope be useful?
