What this changes

When someone a player reported has been banned, the API now lists report_thanks in /users/@me pendingMessages (from 24 hours after the ban). On the next clean homepage load the client shows it once:

Thank you
A person who you recently reported has been banned, thanks for keeping openfront a safer and more enjoyable place

After the dialog is closed, the client marks it seen with POST /users/@me/messages/seen.

  • BootInterrupts: a new report-thanks interrupt, ranked last. It yields to every other boot interrupt and waits on the server until a boot has room for it. Like the Steam grant notices, it waits for its strings, so an echoed translation key never spends it. The record is only written after the player closes the dialog.
  • ApiSchemas: pendingMessages is optional and defaults to [], so the client still parses an API that doesn't send it yet.
  • Api.ts: markMessageSeen(kind).
  • en.json: the new report_thanks strings.

Needs the API side (infra #1004). Until that's deployed and enabled, pendingMessages is always empty and nothing changes.

Tests

  • tests/client/BootInterrupts.test.ts:
    • shows when pending
    • yields to rewards and the lapse notice
    • never interrupts a deep link
    • waits for its strings
    • shows, then marks seen
  • The other test files that build BootInterruptInputs, BootInterruptPorts or a /users/@me response get the new fields.

npm run typecheck and npm run lint are clean, and oxfmt reports no changes.

Please complete the following:

  • I have added screenshots for all UI updates. No screenshot: it reuses the existing in-game alert dialog with new text.
  • I process any text displayed to the user through translateText() and I've added it to the en.json file
  • I have added relevant tests to the test directory

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

/users/@me now carries pendingMessages. When it includes "report_thanks",
the homepage shows "A person who you recently reported has been banned,
thanks for keeping openfront a safer and more enjoyable place" once, then
POST /users/@me/messages/seen marks it shown.

It is the lowest-priority boot interrupt: it yields to every other one and
keeps on the server until a boot has room for it. Like the Steam grant
notices it waits for its strings, so an echoed translation key never spends
it. pendingMessages is optional and defaults to [], so an older API still
parses.

Walkthrough

The user response now includes pending messages. When a report thank-you message is pending and translations are ready, the client displays a translated alert and then sends an acknowledgement to the server.

Changes

Report thank-you flow

Layer / File(s) Summary
Pending message and acknowledgement
packages/shared/src/ApiSchemas.ts, src/client/Api.ts
The user response schema adds pendingMessages, defaulting to an empty array. The API adds markMessageSeen to acknowledge a message kind.
Interrupt selection and display
src/client/BootInterrupts.ts, src/client/Main.ts, resources/lang/en.json
The boot flow selects the report-thanks interrupt when the message is pending and translations are ready. The interrupt displays the translated alert, then marks the message as seen.
Interrupt and response tests
tests/client/BootInterrupts.test.ts, tests/client/BootInterruptSequencing*.test.ts, tests/client/SteamNotices.test.ts, tests/client/MainInitialize.test.ts, tests/ResolveCosmetics.test.ts, tests/client/*
Tests cover interrupt priority and eligibility, alert display and acknowledgement, and fixtures updated for pendingMessages and the new interrupt inputs.

Verdict: No issues found. 0 critical, 0 major, 0 minor.

Checked for bugs and CLAUDE.md compliance:

  • nextBootInterrupt still stops at cleanHomepage before anything else, and report-thanks is ranked last, after rewards. It also waits for its strings, so a key echoed back can't spend it.
  • runInterrupt waits for the alert to close before calling markMessageSeen("report_thanks"). A dialog that is never closed leaves the message pending on the server.
  • pendingMessages is .optional().default([]), so .includes(...) in Main.ts is safe when the API leaves the field out.
  • Every BootInterruptInputs/BootInterruptPorts/UserMeResponse fixture has the new fields.
  • The new user-visible text goes through translateText and is added only to resources/lang/en.json.

CI's MainInitialize run hit an unhandled rejection: onUserMe read
userMeResponse.pendingMessages.includes(...) on a response that hadn't gone
through the schema default, and the BootInterrupts mock there had no
reportThanksStringsReady. Read pendingMessages with ?? [] like rewards, and
add the export to the mock.

Checked for bugs and CLAUDE.md compliance:

  • src/client/Main.ts: (userMeResponse.pendingMessages ?? []).includes("report_thanks") falls back to an empty list when a caller passes a /users/@me response that did not go through the schema default, so it cannot throw. When the field is there, it behaves exactly as before.
  • tests/client/MainInitialize.test.ts: the BootInterrupts mock now exports reportThanksStringsReady, which Main.ts calls. That was the only test that mocks this module.

  • This range only merges main into the branch: saved games, the Map Layers switch, keybind capture, the timer layout, and the snapshot header. None of its hunks are part of this PR's own diff, including the ones in ApiSchemas.ts, en.json and Main.ts, so none of them were reviewed as PR changes.
  • The merge leaves the report-thanks code intact: pendingMessages, markMessageSeen, the report-thanks interrupt and its en.json strings.
  • None of the files the merge brings in build a UserMeResponse, BootInterruptInputs or BootInterruptPorts fixture, so none of them need the new fields.

Deduplicate the pending report_thanks interrupt per account.

After the first alert closes, dialogOpen is cleared. A portal-auth refresh can then invalidate /users/@me and fetch the same still-pending message before the first POST /users/@me/messages/seen changes the server response. The client can show the alert again and send another POST.

Track the handled pending message at the refresh boundary. Clear the guard when a later response no longer contains report_thanks.

/users/@me is re-read within a launch (session recovery, a portal sign-in)
and POST /users/@me/messages/seen is fire and forget, so a re-read landing
before that POST still carried report_thanks and could show the alert a
second time. Mirror the Steam notices: a once-per-launch flag, set when the
dialog opens, read through reportThanksDueThisLaunch. A launch that never
showed it still owes it, since nothing was marked seen.

The per-launch reportThanksShownThisLaunch guard is set before the alert in runInterrupt and checked through reportThanksDueThisLaunch in Main.ts. This stops a re-read of /users/@me from showing the thank-you a second time while the fire-and-forget seen POST is still in flight. The tests reset the module state in beforeEach, and the MainInitialize mock exports the new function.

A portal sign-in can switch accounts without a reload, and the single
once-per-launch flag then hid the second account's pending thank-you
until the next reload. Keep the shown state per publicId instead.

  • src/client/Main.ts: publicId comes from userMeResponse.player. The same value goes to reportThanksDueThisLaunch and to the interrupt context, so the check and the mark use the same account.
  • tests/client/BootInterrupts.test.ts: every call passes the new publicId argument, and a new assertion covers switching accounts without a reload.

  • This range only merges main into the branch. It brings in fix(client): keep share flash ring vertically centered when button lifts on hover #5979, which keeps the share flash ring centered in src/client/hud/layers/WinModal.ts and adds a test in tests/client/graphics/layers/WinModal.test.ts. Neither file is part of this PR's own diff, so neither was reviewed as a PR change.
  • The merge doesn't touch any report-thanks file: ApiSchemas.ts, Api.ts, BootInterrupts.ts, Main.ts, en.json and their tests are unchanged in this range.

Every hunk in this range comes from merging the base branch. That covers the hashed-email RAMP signal, the Steam browser-approval purchase flow, the saved-games code box and the matching en.json / Main.ts lines, all of which are already on main. None of it changes this PR's own report-thanks work. I found nothing from the merge that breaks the PR's changes (BootInterrupts, ApiSchemas.pendingMessages, Api.markMessageSeen, report_thanks strings).
