publish: drop dependency packages no retained build declares - #42
The Nightly catalogues nightly/ce-2.8 and nightly/ce-2.9 list both py311-charset-normalizer-3.4.4 and -3.4.7. All five retained pfBlockerNG builds declare 3.4.7 only. Two packages with one name make pkg print duplicate dependency listing: py311-charset-normalizer on every upgrade check.
prune_retained() only evicted canonical builds, and regenerate_catalogue() indexes every .pkg in the directory, so a superseded dependency version stayed forever.
Change
prune_retained() also removes a dependency .pkg when a kept build declares that package name, a declared version of it is in the catalogue, and no kept build declares the file's own version. Deleted dependency paths are part of the returned tuple, so publish_release still regenerates on them. Names no kept build declares are left to _evict_undeclared_deps, as before.
Verification
New RetentionTests cases: the stale-version test failed before the change and passes after; two guards pin that a still-declared version and the only on-disk copy survive.
Full suite: 803 passed.
prune_retained + regenerate_catalogue on a copy of the committed docs/nightly/ce-2.9 tree removed only py311-charset-normalizer-3.4.4.pkg; the regenerated packagesite.yaml lists 3.4.7 only.
The live catalogues clear on the next Nightly publish.

Bug Fixes
Release catalogue cleanup now removes superseded dependency packages when no retained build requires their version. Dependency versions still declared by retained builds, and catalogue descriptor packages, are preserved.
A dependency package is kept when it is the only available copy of its version, even if that version differs from the one declared by a retained build.
A Nightly catalogue kept py311-charset-normalizer-3.4.4 after every
retained build moved to 3.4.7. Two packages with one name make pkg
warn "duplicate dependency listing" on every upgrade check.
prune_retained now also removes a dependency version no kept build
declares, once a kept build's declared version is in the catalogue.
FixespfBlockerNG/pfBlockerNG#3718.
Retention pruning now removes certain superseded dependency packages in addition to canonical builds beyond the channel limit. It preserves dependency versions declared by retained builds and versions without an installed replacement. The return value lists deleted canonical paths before deleted dependency paths.
prune_retained removes an installed dependency version when retained builds declare another installed version and none declare the installed version. It returns the deleted dependency paths after deleted canonical paths. The release comment and tests describe and cover this behavior. Tests also check that declared dependency versions and versions without an installed replacement remain.
Duplicate dependency warnings can persist after an unchanged Nightly publish, although upgrade checks still complete. This is a bounded cleanup gap suitable for owner awareness or follow-up.

Explanation
[#3718] prune_retained() removes a superseded dependency version when a retained build declares an available replacement. The reported retention tests cover removal and preservation cases. The reported catalogue trial removed the stale py311-charset-normalizer package. However, publish_release.py states that its entry point handles tagged releases, not Nightly intake. The available evidence does not establish that Nightly publication calls this pruning code and regenerates the catalogue.
Resolution
Provide reviewable evidence that the Nightly publication path calls prune_retained() and regenerates the affected catalogue after dependency removal.

A rabbit checks the catalogue with care, As older builds and packages leave their lair. Kept builds still declare the versions they need, And paths list canonical first, then freed. The rabbit hops through tidy rows tonight, Then nibbles clover in the moon’s soft light.
