Issue

Frontend setup was inconsistent across documentation, package managers and CI. Dependency conflicts and failing checks made local development difficult to reproduce.

Things done

  • Standardize frontend development on Node 24 and npm 11 with a committed npm lockfile
  • Remove unused dependencies and update vulnerable packages
  • Align TanStack Store versions and update react-simple-maps for React 19
  • Preserve identicon avatars without pulling in the UI Kit dependency chain
  • Fix TypeScript, pagination tests and Biome diagnostics
  • Load Vite environment files with shell-variable precedence
  • Enable frontend checks and production build in CI
  • Update Docker setup and local development instructions; keep the API on its existing Yarn setup
  • Verified clean install, dependency tree, types, lint, 56 tests and production/Docker builds; npm audit reports 0 vulnerabilities
