An interactive, offline Material 3 reference app for Android.
Note
Local first: The Android app does not request android.permission.INTERNET. Its catalog, bookmarks, recent references, and appearance settings stay on the device.
Material Design is an independent Android reference app for building interfaces that feel deliberately Material, not merely decorated with isolated Material components. It combines working demonstrations, reviewed API metadata, and practical design guidance in one offline experience.
The Android app lets developers and coding agents find an officially named component, experience its behavior, inspect its Compose implementation, and distinguish official APIs from project implementations.
Download the latest APK from GitHub Releases and install it on a device running Android 7.0 or newer.
No account or network connection is required by the Android app.
- Interactive Android gallery: Browse and search working Material references across actions, communication, containment, navigation, selection, and foundations.
- Validated offline catalog: Inspect aliases, guidance, source paths, official links, API availability, stability, artifact versions, and opt-in requirements.
- Material 3 Expressive product shell: Explore adaptive navigation, search, detail, settings, feedback, motion, and accessibility in the same system used by the samples.
- Practical design guidance: Read purpose, use and avoid rules, expected behavior, accessibility, and adaptive layout notes for every installed entry.
- Local personalization: Keep bookmarks, recent references, theme modes, dynamic color, accent choices, and reduced-motion preferences on the device.
- Report bugs or request references through GitHub Issues.
- Review changes in the changelog and public release notes.
- Track active work in TASKS.md.
- Read the privacy policy.
