When in the local-editor, setting a constant value for an image requires and image modal popup, as Storm is not available. This popup was removed in commit df6dc14 when removing the "visual-editor/starter", but this may have been a mistake. Testing: Verified that image constant values can be selected when running dev mode in a standard library locally.

…string by default, or a surface value containing the authored color and resolved background/foreground colors. Moved color editing into [ThemeColorField.tsx](/Users/jwartofsky/pages/visual-editor/packages/visual-editor/src/fields/ThemeColorField.tsx) and shared dropdown behavior into [BasicSelectorCombobox.tsx](/Users/jwartofsky/pages/visual-editor/packages/visual-editor/src/fields/BasicSelectorCombobox.tsx). Existing basicSelector color fields still author the same values. Updated field registration, render-prop typing, built-in styled fields, docs, and tests for the new type. Extracted price formatting into [entityFieldFormats.ts](/Users/jwartofsky/pages/visual-editor/packages/visual-editor/src/fields/fieldTransforms/entityFieldFormats.ts); its behavior is unchanged.

[[field]]values in HTML code transforms.
CustomCodeSectionopts its HTML field intoresolveCode. The HTML branch now runsresolveEmbeddedFieldsInStringafter Handlebars interpolation. That helper inserts entity values withString(resolvedValue)and no HTML escaping.A string field containing markup or an event handler can therefore reach
dangerouslySetInnerHTMLas HTML. The base implementation did not resolve[[field]]values in HTML, so this behavior is introduced by the new HTML transform. Escape embedded values only for HTML code fields. Keep{{{description.html}}}unchanged for intentional raw HTML.Suggested fix

Why the switch away from arrow syntax?

This was causing problems and making the Node 20.x tests fail
It was causing an import cycle
ComprehensiveCTAField → YextAutoField → fieldOverrides → ComprehensiveCTAField
This change breaks the cycle, but is a bit hacky
I'm looking at a better way to resolve this
There was a problem hiding this comment.
yes, this fix is needed to make the import declarations available during field registry initialization
using the function pattern here fixes the import timing
I've updated some of the other overrides to use this function pattern as it is more durable

Would it be possible to simplify ResolvedThemeColor to just selectedColorCss and contrastingColorCss? I presume that we use the ThemeColor properties in some places so it's not, I just wonder if it would be less confusing if the transform only output the usable css
There was a problem hiding this comment.
yes
there's some complication though
Background and Page expect the "non resolved" background values
We could have those atoms accept either shape
We would have to extend this "either shape" path through BackgroundProvider aswell
There are libraries that read from BackgroundProvider and expect to have the unresolved values though
It would be difficult to fully separate these without making it breaking. Maybe breaking is OK though, but in that case we don't really need "transform: true" at all
This pattern here is the "safe" pattern for migration if we want this to stay backwards compatible

🗄️ Data Integrity & Integration | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick winExclude repeated fields from the price-format contract.
If a field sets

actually it is helpful
this makes it so that we don't attempt to fetch an invalid image URL twice and also makes it so that if an image fails to load, we don't render the component

ok I guess that makes sense
Does it reset if you use a different (working) url after an invalid one?

This reverts commit fb435d3.
Tested in casual-dining, example-library, and standard-library
This CR also includes changes for image atom to return null instead of an error image when the image does not resolve.
Adds a new field type "themeColor". This is an "always transformed" field that returns the following data:
You can see implementations of these transforms here:
