Qualify two characteristic-zero trace contracts from PR5681 - #5701
This note applies the classical first-order trace identity to two explicit characteristic-zero contracts suggested by PR5681's static fixture. An all-query-square-zero contract requires total query trace zero against target trace 128. Keeping the verbatim full-stage T and full resolutions instead requires total thin trace −120, incompatible with square-zero thin derivatives' trace zero.
These are conditional source qualifications. They identify an assumption that must change before the specified lift attempts could succeed. The characteristic-two witness is unaffected. PR5673 permits arbitrary thin Z; that class is not excluded. No new trace identity, source-author contradiction, general complex/native/caller exclusion, chronological construction, physical invoice or κ gain is claimed. The selected frontier is unchanged.
Task and overlap
Explicit task: prepare a focused PR for this useful source-bound finding. Scope key: pr5681/31-leaf/ordinary-char0-first-trace/two-conditional-contracts.
Base: df0137efd35e11b4445734bf612bdd4c7ebc330c, tree b2cba28bc921bd50607d1417b43fbafdfe9058cf. Source: PR5681 head 67f07448eec5ad8d84bdf96b46981ac0b893592f, research/one-sided-connector-audit, including its retained PR5673 proof from c10f75f09e41803ae8efe478331a7509b7379b2f. Two unchanged primary proof texts and their immutable pins are included.
The contribution refines the source's existing “characteristic-two static result, native lift missing” boundary into two precise additional contracts and necessary trace budgets. It does not claim discovery of that existing boundary. Narrow source/overlap qualification has been separately bound to the exact accepted argument version; its bounded observations do not establish exhaustive novelty. The trace identity is classical.
Validation
A separate local AI paper review accepted the frozen argument/contract tuple at proof hash 37d13fa8d60115fdf4ff62c89ed2361d7a898aa99ed7f0931cc31d8711149469 and contract hash 65bd829e2b17382029b6d1ee16d248e2116a059e5de47824a8099029789c7b02. The publication adapts prose and links for a standalone reader. Final review accepted the exact six publication files, including the adapted proof, source copies, attribution, portable links and privacy boundaries. No mathematical or package blocker remained. This is separate local AI paper review, not independent human acceptance or proof-kernel verification.
The ordinary free dual-number coefficient model, independent central x_j=D_j+1, x=0⇔D=−1 specialization, faithful physical-transfer caveat, and Q²=0 versus automatic (eQ)²=0 distinction are explicit. Case B assumes no full-query nilpotence and uses T²=2T. A necessary coefficient equation is not presented as a full-word converse.
Packaging recomputed hashes/Git blobs/lengths of the two source copies against existing authenticated pins, and checked accepted-version hashes. This is custody bookkeeping. No fresh source query, source import, numeric/scientific run, WORD access, matrix generation, constructor, chronology search, native replay was performed locally. The unregistered static package supplies no verifier, fake result or generic replay manifest. The paper proof needs no synthetic execution receipt.

Formulation B was independently identified during review of A. The unchanged source texts retain their attribution and Apache-2.0 notices. Prepared with substantial OpenAI Codex assistance, including separate local AI paper review; no independent human acceptance or proof-assistant theorem is claimed.
Open next questions
The README gives the next questions: a concretely revised characteristic-zero contract, arbitrary thin derivatives with full ordered endpoint, and faithful physical representation of the normalized coefficient identity. Each requires its own source/endpoint/cost scope. No revised family or search is nominated by this note. The immediate useful action is review of the exact two contracts and paper proof.

The hosted run failed in plan at Onboarding helper tests. Its two failing CurrentCiNavigationTests subtests concern the expected PR5599 review and source-manifest links in the shared current-CI documentation; those files are outside these six additions. The replay job was skipped. No hosted pass or scientific replay is claimed.

Primary PR5681 is pinned at 67f07448eec5ad8d84bdf96b46981ac0b893592f; its retained PR5673 proof and original source commit are preserved in the source manifest.
Concrete object and scope. Two specified characteristic-zero ordinary-matrix/free-dual-number contracts motivated by the 31-leaf, dimension-four static fixture. Scope key: pr5681/31-leaf/ordinary-char0-first-trace/two-conditional-contracts. The contribution is limited to this static proof package; it claims no wider native supplier or caller construction.
Changed result. Specializing x=D+1=0, hence D=-1, gives the necessary first-order identity sum(full R)+sum(thin Z)=I128. With every derivative square zero, the total trace is zero against target trace 128. With verbatim full T and full resolutions instead, full trace is 248, requiring total thin trace -120; square-zero thin derivatives have trace zero. The proof makes the additional hypotheses explicit. The trace identity is classical, and this identifies no error in the source characteristic-two result.
Costs and construction status. No chronological word, native implementation, changed paid/target profile, invoice, compiler/outer admission, physical price or kappa gain is supplied. The selected frontier is unchanged.
Validation and evidence. Separate local AI paper review accepted the conditional argument and the exact six-file publication package, including attribution and public links. All six committed files were fetched back and matched the reviewed text and Git blobs; both unchanged primary copies also match pinned SHA256 and byte lengths. This is paper review and custody checking, not independent human acceptance or proof-assistant verification. No source execution, WORD/matrix generation, constructor or scientific replay occurred. The hosted run failed its plan job at Onboarding helper tests: two shared current-CI documentation-navigation assertions for the expected PR5599 review/source-manifest links. These shared files are outside the six-file overlay. Replay was skipped; no hosted pass or scientific replay is claimed.
Limits and credit. The free coefficient basis 1,e, central nonzero e, independent central variables and constant matrices are required; physical transfer needs faithful preservation of that coefficient identity. Derivative Q^2=0 is additional: automatic (eQ)^2=0 and invertibility do not imply it. The valid F2 witness is unaffected; arbitrary-thin PR5673, general complex/native/graded callers, other targets and dimensions remain outside the exclusion. Credit Ali Romman's source work, the retained PR5673 and Cinna Davis/controller/P104/native/helper/compiler lineage. Apache-2.0 notices and substantial OpenAI Codex assistance are retained.
Next action. Review the exact two contracts and paper proof. A revised characteristic-zero proposal must declare which maps or nilpotence/target assumption changes, then supply its complete ordered endpoint and physical costs before any supplier claim. No new scientific resource slot or automatic search is requested by this note.
