This proves the two actual-path budgets at the start of Appendix A.3: depth ≤ C·n and M·#B ≤ Γ·n, with C = 4Σ_(r<k−1)(3M)^r and Γ = 4Σ_(r<k−1)3^r. The B-budget keeps the source constant in multiplication form, avoiding division or rounding.

The inputs are an arbitrary finite prefix of the existing countingChild path, full Choice at θ(r)=M^r with M≥2, a reduced clausewise nontautological root of width at most k, and a finite set U supporting all root literals. There is no ambient Fintype assumption, terminal-sparsity premise or supplied depth/B budget. counting_path_budgets_of_card_le gives both bounds for every declared n≥|U|. Empty sums force zero length at k≤1, and n=0 is covered.

counting_new_nonempty derives a genuinely new heart/petal at every step, absent from both the current node and root. Root width propagates through actual children, including B-negated units. mul_card_counting_petalSteps_le charges every B-step of petal width j to at least M^j actual insertion events, including j=1; it does not assume that extra B-negated units are new. Summing these lower charges against #1283 proves counting_length_le and mul_card_counting_B_le. No event is replaced by a globally unique clause count. The lower-charge lemmas use positive thresholds, Heavy and root reducedness along the actual path; full Choice priorities and nontautology enter through the cumulative upper bound.

Source: pinned manuscript, Appendix A.3, printed p.46, first two paragraphs: “Lemma A.3 gives depth at most Cn.” The formulas and B-petal charging argument above paraphrase the adjacent display and sentences. Source n maps to |U| or any larger declared n, source k to the explicit root-width bound, and A/B to false/true in the existing counting path. All supplier source/test bytes, original audit_prerequisites work and supplier credits remain unchanged. The own delta is 299 source lines, 122 test lines and one aggregate import. M0 contract and consumer API precheck.

The tests reuse #1283’s concrete two-step full-Choice fixture through Lean’s import-all facility without copying or editing it. They evaluate A/B totals, both petal-width charges, an actual positive new unit witness, event totals, the exact k=3/M=2 constants, enlarged declared budgets, a root that fails the smaller width bound, and arbitrary-prefix zero-length consequences for one-variable unit roots and Empty zero-variable roots.

At exact head 1a97326, one two-thread default scripts/check.sh campaign passed all six gates. Fresh native scripts/check_tidy_surface.py --update and its normal check passed at 896 statements / 132 modules without a baseline delta; normal changed-file lint, hygiene/check-simp, catalogue and diff checks passed. The source stayed fixed through validation, with no stale-output bypass. Those source/test blobs are byte-identical in the current head. Focused strict source/test and aggregate checks pass after the payload-only restack; new-head CI 40454979320 passed all six gates and fresh audits. Outside source review 5662017413 carries; independent integration-delta confirmation is requested.

This ends at actual depth and weighted B-choice budgets. #1263/#1276 remain the tree/search consumer owners. Their word-prefix bridge can instantiate the Nat-indexed path from walk/choice witnesses; binomial word/node/leaf counting, effective M selection, the global CountingTreeBound and polynomial leaf workspace remain separate obligations. No competing tree/path/ledger/search definition is added. Selected abstract meanings and PDFs are unchanged. AI-assisted implementation and self-review: Codex. Original source credit and author metadata are preserved.
